Nestled amidst the towering peaks of the Himalayas, Nepal has emerged as a burgeoning option for pursuing MBBS abroad, steadily gaining significance. Being classified as a 'developing' nation, Nepal presents ample opportunities for both social and economic advancement, making MBBS education in Nepal an enticing prospect. Nepal boasts over 1800 medical seats distributed across five government and fifteen private medical colleges. According to the Medical Education Commission, Nepal (MEC), approximately 540 seats are allocated for international students. However, securing a seat in Nepal's Government Medical Colleges necessitates qualification through the MEC examination, while admission to private medical institutions mandates qualifying the NEET exam for the current academic year. Eligibility criteria for MBBS in Nepal require candidates to have completed their 10+2 education with Science as a subject (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology) and secured a minimum aggregate of 50% or its equivalent percentage. Additionally, candidates must be at least 17 years old as of the last date of application for the MBBS or BDS course. The admission process for MBBS in Nepal offers two avenues: (A) Entrance Examination conducted by the Medical Education Commission, akin to NMC in India, or (B) Direct admission based on the NEET score of the current year. To apply for MBBS admission in Nepal for the academic year 2024-2025, candidates are required to submit various documents, including a recent passport-size photograph, Passport or Aadhaar Card, NEET Admit Card 2024, MECEE Admit Card, MECBL Registration Confirmation, MEC Score Card, 10th and 12th Mark sheets attested by a notary, lawyer, or authorized signatory, Character certificate, Transfer certificate, Class 12 Migration Certificate, and an Application Fee of INR 5000 payable to the Medical Education Commission, Nepal.
